Dehumidifiers fall into two broad categories: bags filled with desiccant materials like silica gel that absorb moisture naturally, and 12V machines that use similar materials but also draw in the vapour with a motorised fan. Based on the optimization results, the system with an efficient multi-mode chamber was built by the authors. The range includes both entry level and high-end products for improved performance, repair and maintenance. Consequently, pressure on the surface of the adsorbent increased, raising the outlet value of the humidity ratio to 43 g/kg.
Three global optimizations were done for 3 cases (cylindrical, rectangular, and hopper shape) with random initial control variables, as explained in the section “ Methods” (subsection “ Multi-objective optimization of the microwave chamber”).
When the bag is full of moisture, a special indicator placed on it will signal it by changing its colour. Figure 4b presents temperature and humidity ratio profiles for microwave desorption with a heat recovering mode. With compact dimensions of L21cm x W18cm x D3cm (L8" x W7" x D1" approx), it easily fits into any confined space.Figure 2d illustrates the complex permittivity (dielectric properties) of a composite desiccant material with different adsorption uptakes. Each reusable bag is packed with moisture-loving pellets that suck up to 140ml condensation from the air. Over time a car interior accumulates quite a lot of humidity, fogging up windows and making it almost impossible to see the road. After a period of use, both types will become saturated with water, and both will need to have their moisture removed. Figure 3a shows the evolution of reflected power and low electric field ratio for the most optimal 3 cases of global optimization with a random initial control variable.
